Project Summary
The project requires excavation on the east side of 4710 N. Falkenburg Road to create additional stormwater storage and construction of a cross drain underlying North Falkenburg Drive. The proposed cross drain will provide conveyance for stormwater runoff from the proposed storage area to the west side of North Falkenburg Road. The proposed plan will construct approximately 20 LF of water main with restrain joints, including adding two new inlets and replacing 80 LF of 14”x23” elliptical pipe and new DIP class 50 of 12” with fittings.
Community Benefit
This project is part of the Drainage Improvements Program, under the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The objective of the project is to provide conveyance for stormwater runoff from the proposed storage area to the west side of North Falkenburg Road. The proposed improvements will reduce the risk of future flooding, mitigate future damage to residential properties, and support long-term recovery by addressing a disaster-related impact to public infrastructure, consistent with HUD CDBG-DR requirements. Additionally, this project is going to upgrade stormwater infrastructure and provide water quality improvements through filtering pollutants from stormwater runoff. This project will be carried out under the Infrastructure Program to address (1) known infrastructure deficiencies, (2) provide mitigation and resilience measures to better protect infrastructure from increased frequency and severity of storm events, and (3) align with the County’s long-term recovery and resiliency strategy.
