Project Summary
This project will provide a positive outfall for runoff that collects in a depression on the east side of North Ola Avenue fronting 12701 and will require the installation of Miami curbs in conjunction with a ditch bottom inlet and cross drain or valley gutter to provide positive connectivity from the east side of North Ola Avenue to the west side of North Ola Avenue. This project is a sidewalk reconstruction project with a proposed conveyance swale without a closed drainage system.
Community Benefit
This project is part of the Drainage Improvements Program, under the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). Its objective is to eliminate flooding near 12701 North Ola Avenue and it aimed to realign the sidewalk with minimal impacts. The proposed improvements will reduce the risk of future flooding, mitigate future damage to residential properties, and support long-term recovery by addressing a disaster related impact to public infrastructure, consistent with HUD CDBG DR requirements. Additionally, this project is going to upgrade stormwater infrastructure and provide water quality improvements through filtering pollutants from stormwater runoff. This project will be carried out under the Infrastructure Program to address (1) known infrastructure deficiencies, (2) provide mitigation and resilience measures to better protect infrastructure from increased frequency and severity of storm events, and (3) align with the County’s long-term recovery and resiliency strategy.
