Project Summary

Lake Shangri-La is an existing lake in Seffner with a documented history of roadway flooding during the rainy season. This lake is a closed basin and has minimal means of recovery other than the temporary pumping operation that the County has implemented each rainy season for the last couple years. This project will design and construct a permanent pump station to replace the County’s temporary pumping operation, creating an automated recovery solution that will help the County mitigate the effect and duration of roadway flooding caused by this lake.

Community Benefit

The proposed improvements will reduce the risk of future flooding, mitigate future damage to residential properties, and support long term recovery by addressing a disaster-related impact to infrastructure, consistent with HUD CDBG-DR requirements. This project will be carried out under the Infrastructure Program to address (1) known infrastructure deficiencies, (2) provide mitigation and resilience measures to better protect infrastructure from increased frequency and severity of storm events, and (3) align with the County’s long-term recovery and resiliency strategy.
