Project Summary
This project will include the installation of a new stormwater pipeline with storage ponds on Front Street beginning west at Fifth Street and continuing east of Main Street, piped north to Lake Valrico. This project includes milling and resurfacing of some residential roads as well as the installation of several inlets, a stormwater pipeline and two stormwater ponds along Front Street. The first pond is at the northwest corner of the Front Street and Fifth Street intersection, and the second pond is at the northwest corner of the Front Street and Fourth Street intersection. In total this project will add 1661 LF (0.31 mi) of pipe.
Community Benefit
This project is part of the Drainage Improvements Program, under the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The project’s objective is to alleviate local flooding issues and improve local stormwater storage along Front Street. The proposed improvements will reduce the risk of future flooding, mitigate future damage to residential properties, and support long term recovery by addressing a disaster related impact to public infrastructure, consistent with HUD CDBG DR requirements. Additionally, this project is going to upgrade stormwater infrastructure and provide water quality improvements through filtering pollutants from stormwater runoff. This project will be carried out under the Infrastructure Program to address (1) known infrastructure deficiencies, (2) provide mitigation and resilience measures to better protect infrastructure from increased frequency and severity of storm events, and (3) align with the County’s long-term recovery and resiliency strategy.
