Project Summary

This project will install a new stormwater system and connect it to the existing system on N 15th Street, correcting disaster related drainage deficiencies that caused flooding during the 2024 storm events. This will be achieved by installing new inlets and pipes along 142nd Avenue and connecting them into the existing drainage system on North 15th Street. This project will be adding a piped stormwater system to a flat lying residential area along E 142nd in between N. 15th St and N. 19th St. This project will add 973 LF (0.18 mi) of variously sized pipes and will tie into the greater existing system along N. 15th St.

Community Benefit

This project is part of the Drainage Improvements Program, under the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The objective of the project is to alleviate neighborhood street flooding and prevent damage caused by flooding and surface waters. The proposed improvements will reduce the risk of future flooding, mitigate future damage to residential properties, and support long term recovery by addressing a disaster related impact to infrastructure, consistent with HUD CDBG DR requirements. Additionally, this project is going to upgrade stormwater infrastructure and provide water quality improvements through filtering pollutants from stormwater runoff. This project will be carried out under the Infrastructure Program to address (1) known infrastructure deficiencies, (2) provide mitigation and resilience measures to better protect infrastructure from increased frequency and severity of storm events, and (3) align with the County’s long-term recovery and resiliency strategy.
