Project Summary
This project consists of the repair and restoration of four channel locations throughout the northwestern part of Hillsborough County. The Hillsborough County Stormwater Services Department hired Land & Water Engineering Science, Inc. (LWES) to assess the current condition of its stormwater assets after Hurricane Helene and Milton, which caused major damage throughout the County. LWES identified problem areas and presented solutions for various factors including erosion conditions, bank stability, structure conditions, debris accumulation and overgrown vegetation.
Community Benefit
The objective of this channel restoration project is to improve drainage and bank stabilization along various existing channels in the County. This project will be carried out under the Infrastructure Program to address (1) known infrastructure deficiencies, (2) provide mitigation and resilience measures to better protect infrastructure from increased frequency and severity of storm events, and (3) align with the County’s long-term recovery and resiliency strategy.
