Summary

The Channel Restoration Projects will repair and restore damaged stormwater channels in northwestern Hillsborough County that serve as critical pathways for moving stormwater away from neighborhoods and infrastructure. Following damage caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, the projects will address erosion, unstable banks, sediment buildup, excessive vegetation, and other obstructions that restrict water flow. Restoration activities may include channel excavation, bank stabilization, erosion protection, and debris removal designed to restore the channels' ability to effectively convey stormwater.

Community Benefit

The Channel Restoration Projects will help reduce localized flooding by restoring the natural flow of stormwater through the County's drainage system. By improving channel conditions and removing obstructions, the projects will allow stormwater to move more efficiently during heavy rainfall. This will reduce strain on surrounding infrastructure and assist communities in recovering more quickly after major storm events. This investment will support more reliable drainage, reduce recurring maintenance issues, and provide lasting flood mitigation benefits of surrounding neighborhoods.
